My goal this year is to raise $700 for the charity Conquer Cystic Fibrosis. The reason I have chosen CCF is because it has a focus on raising funds for CF research.
Research leads to improvements in treatments, improvements on quality of life, healthier longer lives for people with CF. Life expectancy in Australia for people with CF in the 1960’s was 5 years, it is now 35 years. Deaths in Australia of younger people with CF have declined dramatically. 1998 to 2004 saw a fall of 70% in the number of deaths of people with CF aged under 20 years. The biggest reason for this is research.
What I am going to do:
This year I will participate in a number of sporting events to raise money for CCF and hold several fund raising events. My first event is the HBF Run For A Reason.
What you can do:
Help me raise money for CCF by also getting involved in sporting events, coming along to my charity events or by simply donating money. All donations are welcome! Spread the word!
Check out the CCF website for more information about them and thier events: http://www.conquercysticfibrosis.com/index.html
