Campaign Story
I am Eros Adamides, I grew up in Cyprus and most of the best memories were gained from being part of the 53rd St. Barnabas Scout Group. At my first camp I was one of only two cub scouts and it was my Skip's (Richard's) first summer camp as the Group Leader.
Yes there are a lot of funny stories of the silly things I had done and I am sure the people of my generation would be happy to tell them at a drop of a hat (or beret) and a lot of the time it was due to my poor eye sight in the dark; running into poles, jumping off cliffs...
Since leaving Cyprus to study in London where I now live and work, my eye sight deteriorated and I am now completely blind. Needless to say, I have now accumulated even more funny stories and blind jokes which I am sure I will not help myself in sharing.
I am running the Limassol Marathon this year to fund raise for the 53 rd St. Barnabas Scout Group in order to give more people the opportunity to experience being Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders to have the amazing experiences I had.
I honestly feel the skills I gained at the 53rd were what prepared me for my new life! Be prepared and improvisation to name but a few.
I am running the marathon with Caroline as my guide who is mending from a stress fracture and in April will have her own amazing adventure - MDS (Marathon Des Sables).
Please support us by donating and also coming down on the day to cheer us!
