I am running my first ever marathon and not just any marathon...a mountain trail of 45km in the beautiful city of Dalat in Vietnam.
I wanted to dedicate my pain and suffering throughout this race to the amazing organisation - Paws for Compassion. Paws for Compassion is a charity organisation that improves the welfare of animals in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam, through rescue and rehabilitation. They provide cats and dogs with a safe place from the meat trade industry until they are ready for adoption. They are dedicated to raising animal awareness by providing information and an education program for Vietnamese children.
This is what Paws accomplished in 2020:
Animal intakes 95
Animals sterilised 575
Animals rehomed 51
Animals vaccinated against rabies 197
Volunteer hours 1861
Students educated 393
Clinic opened 1
Cat/Dog Slaughterhouse shutdown 1
They have done an incredible job fighting for the animals of Danang and looking after the animals in their care, even throughout the pandemic. They have grown so much in size that they have relocated to a bigger facility. They are in desperate need of funds to support the opening of their new facility and cover the costs to get up and running and continue to save as many animals as possible.
For those who do not know, our dog Happy became extremely sick and was at death's door just as we arrived in Danang last year and during our second lockdown. The vets at Paws and the entire team were extremely supportive throughout, going above and beyond their call of duty for our Happy. The vet that treated Happy throughout dedicates her spare time sterilising, treating and working tirelessly to save the animals rescued by Paws. This is why I would like to give back to them in any way possible to thank them for all of their love, support and hard work.
Please consider donating any amount possible to help Paws achieve their goals and rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many dogs and cats as possible in 2021. Let's make 2021 a good year for the dogs and cats of Vietnam! Thank you :)
