RUNAWAY – short film to introduce the experience of a girl trying to untangle the complexity of adolescence

Overview

The screenplay is based on the real story of our writer and director Nikol Wettin. She invites you to become part of her personal story and graduation film. “Runaway” introduces the experience of a girl trying to untangle the complexity of adolescence as she follows her desire for liberation from authority figures in her life.

Our director about the story

Anna Freud was the first to construct the theoretical corpus of adolescence and she did it based on her understanding of herself.

Similar to that, for me, this is the only and the right way to reveal the personal issues of an 18-year-old girl who is ready to make the complicated step in the world of adults.

Seven years ago I ran out of school and ended up having a ride by a truck driver traveling to Vienna. At first, neither my family nor my friends understood the reason for my actions. The plot builds up on the spontaneous decisions of the main character which draw her into one-on-one situations with strangers.

Filming this story means everything to me. Now is the right time to share it as I still have lively memories and also I had the time to analyze the bigger picture and the danger that I put myself in.

Crew and Advisers

The screenplay is developed under the creative guidance of the well known Bulgarian director and screenwriter Prof. Georgi Djulgerov. Although the project started as a student work the incredible cinematographer Martin Chichov is attracted to be part of the team. The creation of the original music of the film will be done by the exceptionally talented conductor and composer Victor Ilieff. The coaching of the actors is based on Ivana Chubbuck’s 12-Step Technique recommended and performed by Gergana Quievy, the founder of Paris Film Academy. Last but not least, Tsvetomira Lyubomirova, who had her debut role in “Dragon’s wing” will star in the film as 18-year-old Victoria.
