I am a product of the charity works by the Sisters of Mary School, Girlstown in the Philippines (https://www.thesistersofmaryschools.edu.ph/about-u...). Growing up in the outskirts of the city, my family worked in farming which provided us with just enough basics to get by. However, I always dreamed of studying even just high school, look for a job and help my family. I was so grateful when the opportunity came to study at the school in Manila, which is run by the Sisters of Mary, an independent humanitarian institution that runs and operates the program. I took the exam, got accepted, and studied for FREE!
Free food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and quality technical - vocational secondary education. With an innocent mind, I remember vividly I made a wish to myself that I wanted to be a benefactor of this institution someday and be an agent of change to help more children have a better life.
Being a graduate of this institution honed my discipline to achieve excellence in both academic and educational training. With discipline in studies, a good working attitude, love for virtues, and good values instilled in my heart, I even got a scholarship in College and landed a well-paying job. I am currently working abroad for 7 years now here in Doha, Qatar.
With a grateful heart and gratitude, I will be partaking in the 90KM East to West Ultramarathon race on December 10, 2021, and would like to personally dedicate this effort by running for a cause. I am appealing for your support in this endeavor. Your generosity can make a child break free from the bondage of poverty.
In these tough times, The Sisters of Mary School Philippines needs a HELPING HAND to provide to 11,245 children from very poor families food, clothing and health care, shelter, and quality technical - vocational secondary education, to prepare them for a bright future.
Proceeds will go to the Fr. Al’s Children Foundation, Inc. (FACFI), https://www.facfi.org.ph/home a non-stock, non-profit organization duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission under the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. It was established on November 26, 1992, after the demise of Msgr. Aloysius Schwartz, the founder of the Sisters of Mary congregation, assists the charity programs of The Sisters of Mary Schools.
The set amount can support 5 children for the entire school year on the "Sponsor A Child Program" of The Sisters of Mary School Philippines through the FACFI. Pamphlets are attached for more details.
