Hi Friends, Family and Colleagues.
It’s Mavis here! As some of you may know, over the years I've run several marathons, for the love of running. This year and in coming years, I intend to run for a cause, which is to raise funds towards literacy development across Africa. I hope to raise funds to support underprivileged communities and schools; to build or equip school libraries. Beyond literacy development, my vision is to support children during their formative years, through sponsorship and mentorship programs that will help them achieve their true potential and dreams. I believe literacy/education opens the doors to lifelong learning and opportunities.
I'm am dedicating this year's run (the Berlin 2019 Marathon) in aid of the Zambezi Sawmills School project in Livingstone, Zambia. My goal is to raise enough funds to help them build a fully functional library (to be built by the local community), with any remaining funds going towards the completion of another classroom block, so that children in the local community never have to be turned away from having access to education.
I truly appreciate any support and donations and I look forward to updating you on how the marathon goes and the progress of the project. Together we can make a change towards literacy development and in the future of one child, one community at a time.

Update on last year (2018): USD1061 was raised in the lead up to and completion of the Sundown Marathon in Singapore. Thank you for all the donations which will be going directly to the school. An update on the usage of the funds will be provided.
Thank you, Mavis.
