The Red Sea borders on many countries, which results in a huge impact. There is a big contamination because of industrial waste, using its coasts for building big cities and also the heavy influence of the tourism. The resources of the Red Sea are exhausted and the habitats of the flora and fauna are shrinking. To be able to control or to even  work against this threat of the wonderful and only little explored underwater world, it is necessary to observe the ecologically meaningful coral reefs, which are good early warning systems. As an intern at the field station in dahab I want to contribute to research and conservation projects to make aware of the environmental problem of the Red Sea and to find solutions to save the big biodiversity of the coral reefs. As a student of environmental monitoring I am confident to be a great help for the scientists at the field station. Because the Red Sea Environmental Center (RSEC) is a private institution, it is not possible to pay for all the food, accomodation, training and the rent for the diving gear of the interns. That is why I need some financial help to let my dream become true. I hope there are some of you, who want to invest any amount (also small amounts make a difference!) to contribute to a better knowledge about the complex ecosystem of the Red Sea and its protection. I would be very thankful for that and I will also provide reports and pictures about my time there.
