ABOUT RS

This show is essentially a play and an art installation about relationships and why they are the core of human connection.

The show’s title itself suggests relationships to be about the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected. Relationships can be impactful, therefore we have curated/selected pieces and shaped them in a way that will tell a seamless story.

This story is about how relationships can affect others.

How amazing would it look like for 2 people to share something deep about their lives and keep you on your toes? The fantasy of true love, the idea of soul mates and a source something like ‘high power’ working their magic on us – how great would it be to experience these feelings again? How about the pain, the depression and the obsessions; invoking feelings we are so well in tuned to but so secretive with? What can we do with them?

We follow two characters, a son and mother chasing things they never knew they could and sharing all the feelings of embarrassment, shamefulness, awkwardness leading the illusions they made their truths in; this show is about things that they cannot do without. The love in relationships.

This show will explore themes, using a nonlinear method of telling a story. It talks about the son’s past and confronting it while his mother is in danger of finding out his secret and living with her own demons of assault.

In one section of the show, Chocol(ate) by Othman M. Yusof, the central character finds herself at a loss with chocolate and her father because of their miscommunication in her childhood. She relives her horrible past to find answers in the present.

Tapping issues that speaks to us currently about the world and the state we are in, we wish to create original work with the actors in terms of choreography and hope that the play will facilitate the audiences minds to think, asking questions that trigger curiosity.

Venturing through the different texts, styles, exposing what can be made for stage, the world of possibilities is limitless as the audiences’ journeys with the characters to find meaning on love, life and self. Because of this highly personal interaction – everyone will have a different take on the story and what the show means to them ultimately!

Directed by Farid Mohammad, this show is not one you'll want to miss out on!
