The vision behind the "Rowing More Than a Sport" project is to inspire and motivate people by promoting rowing and life values such as fairness, dedication, teamwork, inclusiveness, and environmental awareness.
We decided to embrace and promote these rowing values outside of the rowing community, as well.
With this in mind, while promoting rowing in developing countries such as Albania, we have been giving opportunities to young athletes to participate in a highly formative international experience.
We believe this project will increase integration and help develop self-confidence in these young athletes.
Until now, we have organized the participation of Albanian athletes in more than 30 international regattas, such as the European Championships, World Championship, Mediterranean Games, Olympic Games, and more.
When we began, our goal was to support deserving athletes from all over the world, while promoting the sport of rowing and its values, but it became about more than that. While running the rowing project we realized that its values are not just sports values, but life values which can be applied to any other context and lead to success in any activity. For this reason, we decided to support and collaborate with nonprofit organizations which share high ethical values and work for improving our society. We started by supporting the Indian NGO called SSFA (Shakti Society of Fine Arts).
SSFA is an NGO based in India which uses art in order to promote education for marginalized children and women in the rural areas of India. They support youth becoming ‘Ambassadors of change,’ in today’s society.
In order to continue operating and developing this project, however, we need your support.
We pledge to use funds for:
- Running day-to-day operations, project development and promotion - ( 40%
of the funds)
- Organizing Albania’s participation in 2019 and 2020 international events - (40% of the funds)
- Supporting SSFA NGO projects - (20% of the funds)
