It's public knowledge that the country's riding community has been hounded by half-baked laws and subjective implementation that leads to road side corruption. And the biggest law ever passed is the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act.

The title of the law alone already reeks of discrimination as this places every motorcycle rider in the dire position of being criminalized if he/she looses a plate unintentionally. Needless to say, vandals can also cause distress to unsuspecting riders when their plates are tampered with, copied or stolen and is apprehended by a check point.

Then there is the possibility of a plate being copied and used by a real criminal and the unsuspecting owner is tagged for a crime he didn't commit. This is prevalent since no criminal would use his/her own plate number, let alone his/her own motorcycle in a commission of a crime.

The law has cause not just thousands but, millions of riders distress because of how discriminatory this law is. This is not a solution to the problem. It only adds more liability to the innocent and is a clear manifestation of HATRED against motorcyclists.

The Riders of the Philippines has decided to help fund the case against the law for its unconstitutionality. We have employed lawyers with vast experience against laws that seemingly violate our constitution and rights. The case will give us a better chance of fighting this law and sending out a message to legislators that they cannot take away our rights and do whatever they please.

We have already raised Php 450,000 that has been given to the law office and the incoming donations will be sent to them directly. We will keep the site open for transparency and for donations coming in via other channels shall be posted on a FB page to keep everyone up to date.

Everyone is welcome to audit if they see fit.

  • Thank you for helping all of us. Such a stupid law needs to be reviewed again and hopefully they don't use our votes to tamper and go back to the original stupid law.
