Room-mate – Student Film Project

Logline:

After disrespecting his family’s shrine, a mischievous boy must confront and defeat his family’s ghost or risk loosing his soul.

Synopsis

Ethan, a boy aged 10 is alone at home when he starts to feel hungry. After no luck finding food in the kitchen, he decides to munch on a cake offering his parents laid out on their alter. Upon doing so, Ethan angered the spirit of his deceased sister who now tries to take the cake back from his stomach.

Director's Statement.

Room-mate, to put in simple terms, is a story about the consequences Ethan has to face for eating his deceased sisters' cake. The story isn't just typical horror, although there will be elements showcasing that as well. The story also emphasizes on love and how it overcomes death. I want to showcase its power in the story from sibling love being stronger than death as well as familial love when his parents realize they’ve been neglecting Ethan. Through all the elements of the film I hope to bring out the scares to a level on par to horror films and use these elements as well to enhance the concept of love even after death.

Namely, this includes money for set decorating, make-up used to create the look of the ghost, transportation, casting, food, location rental, etc. We will also be using the funds for our team and talents welfare by ensuring we are masked up and sanitized to prevent the spreading of COVID-19 on our set as safety is our number 1 priority. In the unlikely event that we have excess funds, the remaining money will be donated to charity.
