Hello to every creative and passionate person who takes a look to this website. Our story has a bit of international context and is a mix of private and helping project. I am a half- italian- german woman in her fourties living in South Germany. About 8 years ago I knew my husband who is from Sierra Leone / West Africa. He came here to Germany as a refugee in 2002, after the house and properties of his family down there have been completely destroyed throughout the 10 years lasting civil war of Sierra Leone. The more elder of you might remember the horrific news about children soldiers and rebels doing unimaginable atrocities to the people of Sierra Leone. That war has been classified as one of the most brutal ground battles in the history of humanity by the UN. To make it short my husband has undergone all that hell and came here to help the after war situation for his family, brothers and sisters, his father passed away before the war started. As a refuge-here in Germany- life continued suffering as he spent some years as an asylum seeker in a sort of container as you have a restriction of movement and no access to the legal working market unless you don’t have a stay. I married him out of this situation, foreseeing him as an intelligent responsible individual who doesn’t deserve to stay so at all. Soon he started to take german courses up to a certain level, to take any kind of work in factories, construction sites, even cemeteries. He is a very determinated and, in terms of money, correct person, in his worst times he didn’t even rob one cent from me. I spent money in a scholarship as a store keeper, driving license and all his basic necessities. We sent money to his mother for medical support, to restore the roof of her house and small computer course for a nephew. In the meantime we have born two boys, and we are both working, although our salaries are low, his own, because here in Germany without a long proper education-which he couldn’t achieve due to the war circumstances and as a follow-up coming here late- and my own, because due to the children I work just 60 %. In 2009 my father passed by and I invested my small heritage of 20.000,-€ in a foundation and the first floor of a house down in Sierra Leone. With this money my husband managed to purchase it during a visit in Sierra Leone in 2011. My 78 year old mother also helped there with about 18.000,-€. The aim of the house are as follows: 1. I really want my husband who has undergone all that horrors to get a safe place in the world and a fine ending, when he retires. In my old age I am not in condition to support him as my pension will be low and he hardly will get one. 2. When the house is finished we will rent it and out of the rentage we can help and support many Sierra Leoneans to give them education fees or support small businesses. In the future we can still do a business or foundation, anything that helps to develop the region. And my german sons can do this things in the future and establish business relations… The situation actually is the following: We need now to raise the second floor of the house including the roof. Which consists all in all about 16.000,00 €. If we wait and try to do it little by little it is risky because the prices are raising fast, so we have to do it now. Vice versa, once we put the roof we can start to arrange the first floor, rent it and out of the rentage small by small finishing the house. Fact is, I have a sister that fell in a bad life situation, she is disabled now and my mother is financing her fully, means rentage and nutrition. She is not in condition to help us again. We definitely will get no bank credit because our salaries are low. So no way. I was very optimistic and things went fine, I didn’t expect nor calculate to be stuck in this way. But I also think: I helped a lot to give somebody a new life. I wish a good ending for it, that will promote other communities and promote other lifes. I appeal to all of you who are reading this story here: Help me (us) as a community to put the roof on the house. I have given a lot, I believe in the faculty of giving in human being and as a community you can really upgrade lifes. Not all the sum can be refunded, but any amount is helpful here to reach the aim. Immense Thanks to all the understanding donors. We and other people are and will be extremely grateful!!! The community will benefit!!!
