Campaign Story
Thank you for viewing my "GoGetFunding" page. As many of may know it was only last Summer that I headed off to Villa Maria, Peru's largest shanty town situated within the capital city Lima with charity Quest4Change. So what did we do? From holding fairs and shows for the local children to the construction of six homes for impoverished families, this life-changing experience demonstrated the importance of resilience and gratitude. The Peruvians’ really embellish these desirable virtues and in this sense we can really learn a lot. Well guess what I'm off to Peru in December! In Villa Maria, the families live in shacks, with minimal clean water &occasional moments of electricity. These families through no fault of their own have been marginalised within society & do not even have the basic necessities for life. So why do I need your help? Christmas is approaching & families are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with their loved ones in the warmth of their homes. But in VM, it's a different story with families struggling to scrape together enough for a meal. In many cases, ten people live, cook & survive in a tattered leaky make-shift shack. I witnessed the poor social conditions that these people suffer & reside through without complaining and the Peruvians’ strong character is enviable & admirable. These families will share no gifts or even have the luxury of tucking into a turkey but how about we give a family the warmth of a safe, dry home.
