We adopted Romeo from Rottie Rescue SA - Friends of the Rottweiler when he was 10 weeks old. Romeo is a gentle giant and we adore him; he is such a stunning pet and an integral member of our family.
Romeo collapsed during the early hours of Wednesday (27th November) and we rushed him to the TAH 24hr Emergency Hospital where he underwent numerous tests. They discovered that he had a large build up of fluid in his stomach but could not determine what was causing it. The only option was to open him up for a visual inspection.
It was discovered that he had a ruptured ulcer, a very serious condition. The vet called us and gave us two options 1) to put him down,or 2) undergo a very difficult procedure with only a 50/50 chance of him surviving.
We could just not put him down given that he is only 2 years old, and his amazing temperament. The good news is that the surgery was a success and Romeo is back home and recovering well.
Unfortunately, the bill is huge, and we are unable pay it all.We are reaching out to those who are willing to assist us.No donation is too small and, if we are blessed with any surplus money, this will be donated to Rottie Rescue SA.
With our sincere appreciation, Gavin & Sandra Thompson
