Would you like to help me support some amazing people I met while volunteering as a nurse in Guatemala last year?
Guatemala is one of the worlds poorest nations, but with tertiary education opportunities whole families can improve their fortune.
I've committed to paying for three people to go to university over the next three years:
1. Corina - (second photo) a solo mum nurse who will gain her professional nursing qualification, moving from "nurse helper" to professional or registered nurse. This qualification will triple her current monthly income. Corina's beautiful 11year old daughter, told me she wants go to medical school - which Is how she intends to honour her incredibly hardworking mum. The opportunity to increase Corina's income with this nursing qualification means that medical school fees are within their reach.
2. Mauricio - (first photo) a young man, saved from living in the streets by his Aunty, has proven himself by completing a tourism course to gain entrance to a local university to continue his studies in tourism and management. A key qualification to secure employment in La Antigua, the tourist capital of Guatemala. Without regular employment many young people with family struggles live precariously, often targets for gangs. This qualification will ensure Mauricio has a solid foundation to begin his life and help his Aunty out too.
3. Wilson - (third photo) from the age of seven Wilson has wanted to be an architect. He has completed the free basic education offered in Guatemala, further education costs are beyond his family's means. I have paid the initial costs of his technical drawing and construction program to prepare for university entrance. Can you help me, to help Wilson achieve his dream?
I have worked and lived with these people, I saw that tertiary education is out of their reach if we don't support them. It costs approximately $20 a week to send one person to uni, every donation goes directly to pay their fees and school costs - so every cent counts.
Help Guatemala out of poverty - one person - one family at a time. Thanks for reading and your consideration, much love.
