I am trying to make the story as short as possible: In march I went on a short trip to Morocco from Germany, which was generously paid for by one of my good friends (my first vacation in nearly 2 years as I cant really afford one).
I am known to my friends as a little crazy when it comes to picking up cats from the street. I just cant walk by them and not help or find them a home. So here I am walking in the streets of Tangier and I see this little white thing running around in the distance. that evening I am walking up the same street again and there he is sitting in a corner. My cute, dirty, ill Rocco. Even though he was a street cat and only 3 month old, he was very friendly and cuddly and just jumped into my arms. We sat in the street and cuddled for an hour and then the decision was made: he is going with me. I snuck him under my jacket, smuggled him into the hotel and then hedged a plan to get him out of there and into Germany with me.
I researched a lot and became very sad when I read about how many strays are everywhere, how animals are treated in general and how incredibly difficult it is to get pets out of Morocco.
I knew I had to get Rocco into the EU to even be allowed on a plane to Germany. I washed Rocco to kill the fleas, tried cleaning his eyes as he had an eye infection and the cat flu and took him for his first rounds of shots and some antibiotics to a vet in Tangier. the vet also gave me some papers to even have a chance to get into Spain.
So after all of that was done, I said bye to my travel buddy as he took our scheduled, paid flight home and I took the ferry to Spain to get him EU papers. It took me 2 days from Morocco to Germany with Rocco in a crate, being the most well-behaved kitten ever.
I finally made it back and had him checked out again by a German vet. Unfortunately the eye infection had not gone away after the first round of antibiotics and even got worse again. Rocco has been in Germany for 4 weeks now. The cat flu seems to have completely gone away thankfully. he can now join my two old cat ladies after he was in "quarantine" in my bedroom for 3 weeks.
But Rocco needs more medication now as his second round of vaccinations is needed, more antibiotics and eventually he needs to be neutered.
At this point I have spend about 900€ which I didnt have (it's now credit card debt) and I dont know how to continue taking care of him. I know that it was irrational for someone with no money to do this but I couldnt have continued life and not done anything. I had even scoured the internet to see if I can find him a good home, shelter etc in Morocco but they are scarce and overcrowded.
I appreciate any help, so I can go to the vet again with him until he is better.
