Dunwich Dynamo is an annual semi-organised, through the night bicycle ride from London Fields park in Hackney, London, England to Dunwich on the Suffolk Coast. The distance is approximately 120miles ( 193 kilometres) !!
It is usually scheduled to take place on the Saturday night closest to the full moon in July. Partly for tradition but also because it is easier to ride by moonlight.
The 2016 ride will commence from London Fields, Hackney on the evening of Saturday the 16th July :)
I will be cycling this event to raise much needed funds for my little niece Maisy.
Maisy is 11 years old and was born 9 weeks premature due to my sister in law suffering with severe pre-eclampsia. Maisy was delivered by emergency C-section to save both of their lives. Shortly after birth they discovered that Maisy had suffered two brain Haemorrhage's which caused her to have severe disabilities . She has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, Severe epilepsy, Scoliosis and she is also registered Blind. She has to use a wheelchair and other specialist items of equipment to allow her to live a good quality of life and also to enable my sister and brother in law to care for her safely. It is vital that she has these for everyday tasks and activities such as eating ,drinking, playing, learning and relaxing. She is non-verbal and requires all of her daily needs to be met by her family. Her parents Sophie and Matt constantly have to fundraise for these things which cost a lot of money.
Maisy is also home educated due to her severe lack of immunity, extreme vulnerability and severe seizures. She is prone to bad chest infections in the winter months which result in her spending a lot of time at home during this time. Sensory equipment and specialist toys are vital in allowing Maisy to express herself and give her joy like any other child but again these come at a huge cost. The statutory services only provide some of these things but not always are these right for Maisy so they have to look else where. They then do not receive any financial help towards the cost of these items or her education.

I have decided to do this challenge because I really would like to make a difference to amazing little Maisy. I have watched her grow and overcome the most trying of times and have also watched my sister and brother in law cope through these times and never have they ever given up on their precious little girl. Having three children of my own I realise just how precious life is and if I can make a difference to Maisy by raising some of those much needed funds then that to me, is what life is all about.
Thank you for your support :)
