Update: We lost him this September 14, around 5:50PM. Please pray for his soul.
Hi. Our family is humbly knocking to your hearts for prayers and financial support for our father, Robert Gayapa, and his medical condition.
He is diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, another kidney failure, and high blood glucose level due to his diabetes. He had his RT-PCR test which resulted negative. However, after 10 days in the hospital, he had taken another test and it turned out he is COVID-19 confirmed.
He is diabetic, and has been taking care of it and his maintenance carefully for a long time. However, due to kidney failure, he became a Hemodialysis patient in June 2020.
On his schedule for dialysis last September 2, the doctor deferred his session because he started showing symptoms. Upon checking his oxygen saturation, desaturation was noted at 45%. He was immediately attached to oxygen and advised to seek admission in Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital. He was suspected for COVID-19 and was admitted to the isolation ward while waiting for the RT-PCR and other laboratory results.
Upon receiving the negative result, he was transferred to a regular room. After few days, he had on and off fever, and chills. Another laboratory tests and chest x-ray were taken. This time, they found water on his lungs. He went under chest thoracostomy to drain the fluid out. Another thing the attending physician needed to change is his current antibiotics to Meropenem for bacterial infections, because of the significantly increasing of white blood cells and procalcitonin.
Despite all the aggressive management done to our dad, he still suffered from shortness of breath and episodes of oxygen desaturation. The doctors suggested repeating the RT-PCR test and it turned out he is COVID-19 confirmed. He was transferred back to the isolation ward this September 13.
His total hospital charges until September 11 was PHP 144,898.55. PHP 67,865.42 was paid out of it. As of today, the current bill left unpaid is PHP 150,268.81 and is still ongoing, especially that he is in the isolation ward for the next 14 days which costs more than PHP 50,000 a day.
Please include him to your prayers and his fast recovery.
Thank you for your time. Stay safe always.
