Rob is prepared to lose his luscious locks ... but only for a cause he truly believes in.

In 2017, Rob and Sanna spent a month volunteering at SSDRC, Nepal’s only specialist school exclusively for autistic children. They later led a fundraising campaign that raised more than US$9,000 (including offline donations) – enough to fund the building of two new classrooms at the school’s second building, which finally opened in 2020 despite numerous pandemic delays.

Now, the school has started construction on its third building in Kathmandu – and they’ve asked for help.

Tragically, SSDRC receives no regular state funding, and relies primarily on charitable donations to exist and survive. There is a waiting list of more than 300 families for the new school, but the global financial crisis means the project cannot be completed without support. Our support. Your support.

Naturally, Rob thought of the most meaningful thing he could sacrifice … and then elected to shave his head instead – a symbolic gesture stripping him of the (alleged) source of all his musical super powers.

And he'll be donating to it to cancer charity to find a new life.

More background:

Since 2010, Kathmandu's Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Center — SSDRC — has offered a warm and supportive educational environment to hundreds of disadvantaged and orphaned Nepalese children with autism spectrum disorder, who would otherwise be without specialist care, therapy or resources.

This fundraising project was inspired by a month-long period spent volunteering at the school in the of summer 2017. During the stay Rob and Sanna built deep relationships with many of the children and staff, and began a photo project documenting every student we met.
