Road to Southeastern University

Hi, guys!,   My name is Jude Desir. I am 20 years old and was born in New York but later moved to Florida in a medium sized town named Clermont. My hobbies include music (acoustic and bass guitar) and language learning. I am currently a college student entering my last semester at Lake Sumter State College. I will receive my Associate of Arts by the end of December 2014 and then transfer to a school called Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when I was 17 years old graduating from high school. For the past 2-3 years I have struggled what my major was going be and how I can serve God in that field.

As I researched every possible school in Florida, I came across one major that attracted me: English and Intercultural Studies. It fitted my passion for traveling and teaching. It will allow me to engage with foreign people, see new environments the world has to offer and open opportunities to share the Gospel. The fact that it was possible to travel and teach at the same time ignited a fire in me I never thought I had for a long time. The major is offered in Southeastern University, a Christian private school, which is even more exciting! But that is just it. The tuition is about $33,000 for a year. Yes, 33,000 dollars!! Very expensive, indeed! Due to my family situation, I will receive no support from my parents and all of the school expenses fall on me. Truly I’m grateful for my parents for helping me reach halfway closer to complete my education. However, the end of my years in community college draw near and my faith will be tested through these next few months and beyond.    

I have a huge passion to teach, travel, and serve God and giving glory to Him in all my situations, including this one. I know that I want my family name to be a part of God’s kingdom and receiving a Bachelor’s Degree for teaching foreigners will mean the world to me.

Each and every dollar will make a difference in this fundraiser. Not one single penny will be taken for granted. I am still continuing the search for more scholarships and will receive as much grant money as possible from Southeastern University, even work studying! I will make updates for this fundraiser as much as possible, so check weekly. I also have two trusting adults that will keep me accountable for the fundraiser.
