Road To Sarasota 2019

Hi My name is Simón Ramírez Ortiz, I'm Colombian and I play Ultimate Frisbee. In addition to playing Ultimate, I am a music major in Medellín, I've been a pianist for 15 years.

For 8 and a half years, I've been practicing this interesting sport based on the Spirit of the Game ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U9DIkshkRs ), and I have traveled to different parts of the world, known many people, interacted with cultures different from mine, and I have known myself, thanks to this sport that is based on values such as honesty, conflict resolution through speech, respect, companionship, gender inclusion and the sense of belonging within a community.

In 2014, when I was 14, I traveled internationally for the first time, representing Colombia in the U17 category. Then, in 2015, I played my first Pan American Ultimate Championships, with 16 years. My first World tournament was in 2016 in Poland. Then, in 2018, I traveled twice, to Australia (U24) and Canada (U19). This summer, I represented Colombia at the WU24UC in Heidelberg, Germany. All these trips have been financed by my parents in 85-90% of their totality (each one).

Between November 3 and 8, (in the mythical fields for the Ultimate Community, by the deceased nationals of the UPA) in Sarasota, Florida, the biennial Pan American event of our sport will take place. The Pan American Ultimate Championships ( www.pauc2019.com ) will bring together 69 teams from more than 10 countries in the region.

I started this gofundme because my family does not have the possibility to support me financially for this trip, and I am still studying and I cannot work part time or full time.
