In August 2012, I participated in my first Olympic triathlon with Team In Training. The months of preparation, including many hundreds of hours of training, were well worth it when I could cross the finish line, knowing I had benefited the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In addition to swimming more than 19 miles and running more than 130 miles in training, I biked more than 450 miles...all on an inexpensive hybrid bike. It's all I could afford at the time, but on race day, I realized how much better this experience would be if I had a road bike. They're faster, lighter and more nimble than my own.

That's why, this year, instead of receiving birthday or Christmas presents or being taken out for dinner or drinks, I'm encouraging those close to me to help me get a dream bike! I'm storing away money every month, but I thought this would be an easy way put all other gifts in the same place.

Please help me support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for years to come by making me a speed demon on the roads!

With love,

Gretchen
