Hello, My name is Glaive, and I am a very close friend of Riz , the person who this campaign is aimed to help. I am from the US. This campaign is to raise the funds to give our dear friends Riz and Lockheart a chance to live and work without the massive discrimination and danger they are currently in.
Riz is 24 years old. He is a teacher and a brilliant artist. He loves to draw and animate, and you can find his collection of works here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xsnkmxn9pzhu2yq/AABhktL...
Both Riz and his boyfriend, Lockheart, also happen to be bi-queer. Ordinarily, this would be no issue; however, they live in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Because of Indonesia's cultural, religious and political intolerance for the LGBT community, Riz has lost his teaching job, and is constantly at odds with his family. With increasingly limited job opportunities and the constant threat of discrimination and even injury or death from the staunch Muslim community in his native Indonesia, the idea of finding a place to work abroad is fast becoming the only option left. However, he wouldn't dream of leaving his boyfriend behind, so he wants to bring him along as well.
We have helped Riz and Lockheart with some research and come to an agreement that he stands a good chance to attain political asylum in the US where the government is believed to be open to granting LGBT+ individuals refugee status.
However, the application process for refugee status can only be initiated if they are both present in America for the application.
The goal of this campaign is to raise enough funds for them to make the journey with all necessary and completed paperwork and to procure the services of a lawyer who can help them initiate their application for political asylum.
We hope for the best of humanity to come forth and help in any capacity, and hopefully we can give Riz and Lockheart a fighting chance to succeed in life, regardless of creed or preference.
Accommodation may be procured via MisterB&B to help find Riz and Lockheart a safe, gay-friendly place to stay.
