Rita’s Journey towards a Professional Dance Career

I am Rita Carla Lee, a graduate from the Central School of Ballet in London.

Having spent three years away from home to undergo vocational training in dance and performance has led me to realise the fulfilment and responsibility I have in impacting the lives of others through the beauty of raw movement. I remember vividly how an audience member walked up to me (after a dance performance to an elderly congregation in a church), held my hand tightly and said, “Thank you for the way you moved up there (on stage).” She told me how she felt my movements had touched her heart through the transparency of emotions conveyed and the extent to which I immersed my heart and soul into my performance. While sharing this encounter with my dear mama over FaceTime, I sobbed tears of gratitude and amazement at how blessed I was to be able to do what I love while impacting individuals whom I’ve never met. At that point in my life, I experienced for myself the extensive depth of dance and its power to transform another’s life in one way or another, no matter how minute. It strengthened my sense of purpose and my will to pursue dance to the best of my ability.

I sincerely seek your kind support in contributing financially to my journey towards a professional dance career. Vocational training in a foreign country has been extremely challenging financially to my family, and despite working part-time currently to save up for travelling expenses to attend auditions around the world, I am realistically unable to fully fund my personal travelling expenses alone. It would mean the world to me to have your support, and I know without a doubt, how your contribution can steer me in a direction towards a career as a dancer. Your help will allow me to pursue this art form that I so deeply respect and treasure, and I genuinely hope I have the honour of touching your life one day through performance.
