As the barcode was read on my Powerball ticket, (beep) SORRY YOU ARE NOT A WINNER. I thought, “Don’t be sorry” because I have something for those who realize my desire to help others in need, and it begins with a brief story. My neighbor, Bill, who was a Monk in the 1960s, lives his faith and helps others in a way that resonates with his core values. His health has declined, and he walks slowly with a walker.
During the colder months, the homeless change and discard their socks more often due to them being wet and the weather being cold. Bill rode the bus last year to the Goodwill numerous times to buy socks with his little bit of money. Bill’s family has gently mentioned to him that he cannot afford to do his sock project. I will find tube socks on sale, purchase and take Bill to hand them out as he share a kind word.
I will add $100.00, and I understand many are living paycheck to paycheck. Then please send prayers and good thoughts for those in need of socks and help. I encourage you to share this post because someone else may reach out to a person in need.
