Riaan was born on 4 June 1990, and diagnosed with BA (biliary atresia), In biliary atresia, the bile ducts become inflamed and blocked soon after birth. This causes bile to remain in the liver, where it starts to destroy liver cells rapidly and cause cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver
At the mere age of 8 Weeks he underwent a Kasai Operation, Where they remove the blocked bile ducts and gallbladder and replacing them with a segment of your child's own small intestine.
The Operation helped him and his liver Cope up until now, Were a Liver transplant is Critical.
Riaan is a loving father of 1 and a Half (Expecting in April) And Caring Husband to Lizette,

The transplant coordinator said they will only pay a...bout 80%. The pre-workup for the transplant will also be paid by medical aid but Riaan will also have to pay some of the
