Campaign Story
Reyhana's 10K Challenge for Swans!
The wonderful Reyhana is doing it all over again! Reyhana's dedication knows no boundaries, with her latest challenge undertaking the York 10K run, on Sunday 5th August 2018. Her latest run will benefit a cause that has come close to Reyhana's heart in recent years; the injured swans of Yorkshire.
Reyhana and friend Pam, with special young swan 716Y
Each year, thousands of swans across the Yorkshire region become sick or injured through the ever increasing affects of man on their natural environment. Swans regularly become injured through carelessly discarded fishing lines, fishing hooks, lead poisoning, overhead power cables, oil and fuel pollution, uncontrolled dogs, deliberate animal cruelty, and hit by vehicles when they have crash landed on wet roads.

This latest sponsored run Reyhana is undertaking is her second in as little as a few weeks, and any funds raised will benefit the rescue and welfare of swans that are regularly rescued across Yorkshire, thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers from Yorkshire Swan & Wildlife Rescue Hospital. Reyhana has seen first hand the valuable work carried out by the swan rescue volunteers, and wishes to support their efforts with her own in saving these most beautiful of creatures. Reyhana's favourite running route is along the Canal in Shipley, making quite a bond with the swans living along this stretch of Canal and calling for help when the swans require it.
We have set an initial target of £300, to purchase much needed brand new swan carry bags, for transporting injured/rescued swans. Any further funds raised will be used to purchase other equipment desperately required to help save injured swans.
For more information on the work of the Swan Rescue volunteers and the animals they regularly rescue, you can visit their Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/yorkshireswanrescue

The York 10K run will begin at 9.30am on the 5th August, with Reyhana's aim for a finish time of just over an hour for the whole of the race, with plenty of friends to wish her well and over the finishing line.
GO REYHANA!
