The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
Who am I?
I am Rey Aviles and I am currently a student at University of North Texas. I am studying Interdisciplinary Studies and hope to receive my teaching certificate for Early Childhood-6th grade before I graduate.
I have always enjoyed traveling whether it is to a different state or even a different part of my neighborhood. Now I have the chance to travel to a different country!
Where will I be going?
EDventure International has offered me the opportunity to travel abroad to Thailand, a country whose people, history, and, (of course) food has always enthralled me. I will be going to northern Chiang Mai (specifically dealing with the Hill Tribe located there) to participate in many volunteer experiences including:
- Providing education
- Building sustainable infrastructure
- Elephant rehabilitation
I hope that these experiences will not only give me a better understanding of myself, but, also, a better understanding of the world so that I can apply this knowledge to my future career as a teacher. More importantly, I hope to make as much of a difference that I can while there.

So how much needs to be raised?
I hope that I will be able to do this (and much more) with your help.
The cost of the program is about $3,500 (excluding flight costs). I hope to raise enough money to not only cover the costs, but to, also, financially support the Hill tribe. Basically, this means that any additional money raised will go directly to supporting the Hill tribe.
What do you get for donating?
Below are some rewards I have thought of, although, depending on time and money, these may change (for the better only, of course). All donations receive my undying thanks.
ALL DONATION AMOUNTS ARE ACCEPTED AND GREATLY APPRECIATED (but these amounts get rewards...)
All donations of $10 or more will receive a thank-you card from me.
All donations of $50 or more will be entered to win crocheted coasters of the Thai flag
All donations of $100 or more will be entered to win a crocheted scarf in the style of the Thai flag
Everyone (including non-donators) will have access to my travel blog, which will include updates, pictures, and, videos of my travels, as well as several Do-It-Yourself instructionals that are a part of Thai culture.
