Woodcrafting is my passion, passing this creative work to others, especially children, is my purpose

Point of view

In this world of monitors and fast life i see a big opportunity of handworking and passing it through a part of education and practice for the youth and also for adults.

In my workshops people told me that it was like a meditation for them, clearing mind of other things, focusing on a product and finishing something for themselves and that brought them self-esteem, self-confident and joy. I believe it's a reconnecting proces with nature and with ourselves.

Children, i see, are those who need this handworking most. Technology of a fast life is spreading too fast and uncontrollable capturing our consciousness. My purpose is to slow childrend down and offer them experience to enjoy the beauty of their own effort and work.

My story

My name is Matija, I am 28 and father of 2 boys. I fell in love with wood about 7 years ago and since then I grow through working with wood. I just love trees and working with wood. I have finished a higher school of Design of materials - wood and I have learned about many advantages of handworking. So I decided to make a first school of woodcrafting in Slovenia. I have a company called Esen Woodcraft and one employee, my best friend Tine. We craft solidwood products, kitchenware and furniture under a brand name Esen Woodcraft.

First steps of this woodcrafting school are actually courses for children and adults, with purpose to craft their own toys, useful products like kitchenware and many other projects that we have in program.

Funding

Main focus with this funding is to buy equipment that we need for children courses - handtools and also some basic electrical tools for the courses and materials that we will need in our work.

I am happy that i discovered gogetfunding and that people are ready to support others! Amazing.
