Hi I'm Ashley,
I'm trying to raise money to go to Denmark to visit my foreign exchange student from last year. Over the year she was here, we bonded so instantly it would seem we knew eachother ever since we were little. Our family hadn't intended on hosting an exchange student but fate intervened.
We only had one class together and that was Chemistry. We sat at the same table, and talked occasionally. She would tell me stories of how her host family treated her more like a babysitter and not a family member. I constantly tried to reassure her that not all families are like the one she was put into by her company. She tried to file complaints and they didn't do anything. Then, finally, during the second quarter of school, she was able to find a new home. Unfortunately, the company had no one she could stay with so they told her to ask around and see if any friends could help. She asked multiple people, including me and after asking my parents, we were the lucky family to house her. Before she started living with us, she stayed the weekend to make sure she was a right fit for our family. The next day she was informed that she was kicked out of her previous home, they had the liberty of going through her belongings and packed her bag for her while choosing to keep some of her items for themselves.
The beginning of the year was rough for her, not being able to feel like a part of the family made her long for her home even more. I believe when we took her in it all changed. I would have never thought I could bond with someone over such a short time, I feel like I have known her my whole life. She is not only my foreign, best friend but, my twin. We are so similar in many ways that it's crazy how we found eachother, we like to think of it as a miracle.
So, what I am trying to raise money for is to go visit my sister. I would be going to Denmark for a month to visit her and her family and live with them as she lived with my family. I will be learning more about the Danish cultrue as well as hopefully picking up some of the Danish language. I would really appreciate your donation in making this vision possible! I thank you for reading my story and your consideration in donating to my fund.
