Reunite Ricardo and his Rottweiler.

We need your help to reunite Ricardo and his Rottweiler.

Ricardo and his Rottweiler, Big Boy, have been separated for about 9 months now and Big Boy really misses his owner.

Fortunately, Big Boy has been staying with a loving foster family, but he still misses his old life with Ricardo and can’t wait to see him again.

To do that we will have to fly him halfway around the world, from China to Portugal and that's why we need your help.

So you may be wondering how these two companions were separated in the first place. Well who better to tell you than Big Boy.

Ricardo is a talented musician, teacher and proud dog owner, he has lived in Shenzhen for several years the last few years of which with me, his lovely Rottweiler, they call me Big Boy.

When my first owner didn't want me it was Ricardo who saved me. He adopted me and looked after me from when I was a pup. But now he needs me and I want to help him, after all he is my best friend.

We were happy together living in Shenzhen, we went for walks, swam in the river, and hanged out with our friends.

On 20th May 2018 my master, Ricardo, went out to DJ at a bar, leaving me at home, he was supposed to come back but I’ve not seen him since.

When morning came and he still wasn't home I was very worried. Then a friend turned up and I was taken to live with them, they told me Ricardo had to go away but that I would see him again. I’ve been waiting a long time. Each time the door opens I want it to be Ricardo I see but it isn't. I hope soon it will be.

That night when Ricardo didn't come back it was because the authorities took him away, he was only playing music at a bar but because he helped organize the party the police locked him up.

Unfortunately for those that organised the party, and played there a small number of the people in attendance that evening had taken drugs.

The police locked up all those who tested positive for drugs as well as Ricardo, another party organizer and the bar owner for organizing the party. The three of them were later charged with criminal offenses.

They faced anywhere from 9 months to 3 years in prison. With his family not in the country, and dogs not allowed to visit Ricardo has only had visits from the consulate and lawyer and then only once a month.

In order to ensure Ricardo’s case was fairly represented to the courts, his family and friends helped raise and borrow almost 53,000RMB (6,881 Euros) to pay for Ricardo's legal fees.

Fortunately, because of the nature of the case and diligent work from the lawyer, Ricardo will be released and deported from China in March 2019. However, he still needs to pay for a flight to Portugal.

I still can't see my best friend Ricardo yet until I am sent to Portugal, so Ricardo's friends decided to take me to the prison at the day he is released, hope we can take a peek to each other on road when he is on the way to the airport. :'(

Due to Ricardo is still detained in prison, we are his friends living in China and Hong Kong, we set up this fundraising for helping him and his dog Big Boy. This is what we need to raise the money for.

We want to raise the funds for Ricardo's flight back to Portugal.

We also want to arrange for Big Boy to fly to Portugal. Sending a dog halfway around the world doesn't come cheap.

If we get more than is needed to pay for the flights we will use what remains to help Ricardo and Big Boy with their new life in Portugal and to repay their family and friends who paid his legal fees.

Our target is to raise 4,869Euro / (USD5,517) / (37,009RMB) to cover all these costs and hope it will be reached the goal end of March 2019. We are reaching out asking for donations to bring this story to a happy conclusion so Ricardo and Big Boy can be reunited in Portugal as soon as possible.
