Twelve years in the Philippines have left me essentially broke, destitute, and with minimal employment opportunity. I have lost my wallet (March 20) and been financially unable to replace important documents such as my ACR-I (immigrations) card, US passport (requiring an unaffordable trip to Manila), bank cards (which are no longer in my name due to US FATCA making it nearly impossible to open a bank account) and everything else.
I'm an extremely talented systems engineer (Linux/BSD/Virtualization Technologies) and a highly-skilled PHP and node.js developer. I have more than 20 years of experience in the IT field and was a former senior engineer at a top-tier West Coast ISP/services provider, until family/relationship issues interfered with my work performance to the point where I could no longer perform my duties.
I am now essentially a hostage at the whim of my wife (the person whose relationship issues led to my job loss); the relationship has soured to the point where we are only on speaking terms for survival purposes.
I'm 40 years old; I have invested the last 12 years of my life in a complete and utter failure; I simply want to raise enough money to replace my travel documents and subsequently return home to the US to start over.
