US$24,981raised of $20,000.00 goal goal
Most of you invited to contribute will know me, Daphne and our kids Gabriel, Caleb & Yael.
In the current senseless crime and looting n our beloved KZN, South Africa, we unfortunately lost everything that we owned, except the literal clothes on our back.
The loss is immense, as when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING !!!
We were in the process of moving to a small holding and everything we own was temporarily in storage, that is clothes, furniture, bikes, sports kit, camping gear, jewelry, gifts, memory boxes, awards, certificates, documents etc.
These were all looted, destroyed or burnt and nothing was salvageable, not even a photo..
To help you understand, take a walk into any room in your house, have a look around....Then open every draw...…Then open every cupboard...….Everything you see GONE !!!
Now go to the next room, then the next, then the bathroom, then the garage, then the tool shed, then the attic, then the basement. GONE
You get the picture?
The violence and looting is still ongoing, but we are already looking ahead.
As a family one of our core values is that if anything is intended for pain, harm, destruction, it must be redeemed for Good, Hope and Joy...
We have also realized that many we know are in similar situations and we are all in this together..
Originally some friends asked me to set something like this up, so that they could assist us, Thanks
Our desire is to go over and beyond this and help many other too.
Why don't we just start a movement?
Lets take what was stolen and restore to BETTER THAN BEFORE
Join us on this journey of restoration and hope for our family and many others
There is no amount too big or too small
Any physical items you have too, let us know

"There is a total loss to the contents of your units....."Update posted by Graeme and Daphne Smith at 05:35 pm
Today both Daph & I felt a significant "punch in the gut".....We have genuinely been doing well in navigating this journey. The last time we got into our units, I posted a picture of us attempting to salvage some items from the "ashes", that was unit 260. Unit 270 was. . . . .

For those of you that have been following our story, you will know that the reason we lost everything in the "looting", was because everything we owned was in storage, pending a move. The move is back to a property that we have owned for a number of years, and. . . . .

The realizations of what was lost, definitely continue...I was searching everywhere for a pair shoes and the realized, oh yes.....GONEChatted to a friend today who had just given someone a beautiful hip flask as thanks for protecting his shop during the looting, and I started telling him about mine that. . . . .
The Restoring to Better than before has started...Update posted by Graeme and Daphne Smith at 03:54 am
So its very. very early in the morning, but sleep and I are not getting on right now. Nothing negative, just the enormity of the amount of work, organizing and planning that lies ahead for us as a family, has me in unnecessary, over-planning mode. At least I'm being productive. . . . .
