Campaign Story
We have been given this amazing vessel , Sheen, passed on by the previous caretaker who owned her from the 1970’s. She was built in 1925 in the uk,she was originally steam powered but is now powered by a 350hp supercharged Diesel engine, installed in1962 . She has had an interesting life, including collecting up some of the Dunkirk little ships for the Royal Navy. She towed the Kew Gardens flagpole to Kew, longest flagpole in the world. The fact that she is afloat makes her special, all this history and she still starts up and runs. We have a Facebook page, come have a Look see what we have done and what a monumental task we have ahead.
https://www.facebook.com/sheenthamestug/
here she is on the left in better days.
So here is our problem, we have plenty of experienced offers of help, however we do not have anywhere near the needed funds to complete this labour of love. We hope to be able to steam her around and allow people to come onboard have a look around and maybe ever go for a steam. However there is so much to do before that can happen we need your help to raise the money to preserve and maintain this lovely example of British engineering.
We are offering a chance to be immortalised on the tug herself, with a brass plaque thanking you for your generosity, and as the work progresses and things get back to normal we will be offering a few the chance to have a visit.
Thanks for your support, don’t forget to see our Facebook page for updates and feel free to message us. Thanks for reading.
