The Gambia is one of the poorest countries of Africa but the people are happy, kind and try to survive every day. I am retired and circumnavigate with my boat and was captured by the beauty of the country with his people. I met my Gambian wife and live frequently in the compound of the family, the life is totally different as we know in Holland and the families live from bread in the morning and rice as lunch often there is no money for a dinner and the kids go to bed with hunger despite there are 200 sattelite channels and all second hand goods from the Western world.

Economicly there is no industry just agriculture, fisheries and Tourisme. The country has no power or capability to rise like Chine or India. Tourisme is the most profitable way to earn more money so I bought a second hand taxi but is just enough to get the kids everyday to school.

A new plan has born in Lamin in a creek in a beautiful mangrove area is a rotten tourist boat of 20 meters. I will take action to get the Tourist boat sailing again in a sustainable way so there will be no use of tropical hardwood, the use of a clean 4 tact outboard is necessary. The Tourist boat is capable to carry over 20 people and will provide jobs and a income for a better live for the Gambian community. Founders are welcome for a free sailing.

The Tourist boat is in a very bad situation. After bringing in of plates between the boards and bottum it is possible to roll over the boat. In this position we sand, fill the hole's we bring 3 layers of epoxy with glass. Then roll over the other side and repeat the treathment. Now we can build in the new interior of the boat. Finally the motorizing, galley, bathroom etc can be done.
