Background info:

If you have read the news recently, you will have witnessed the incredible achievement of landing a probe on a commet many thousands of miles away after a ten year journey. The results of this mission are likely to influence research in astronomy and physics for some time.

People are often successful at achieving a goal when they collaborate and act as a community and the goal of a manned mission to Mars is an ambitious one, which will require the support of many.

The Donation

I have written to the European Space Agency, to ask their permission to donate wholey towards such a goal and requested they might provide us with a likely breakdown of how such a donation would be spent for each likely area of research.

Why support this?

Please support this cause, ambitious as it is, because one day we might just need the advancements such a donation hopes to contribute to. Research like this receives a budget from (I believe) contributing governments within Europe each year. It is this budget that enabled the Rosetta mission which began more than a decade ago. Imagine what we can achive by giving more. Since we cannot designate how are taxes are spent we can only give more to a cause we believe in.

What's next?

I will update this page soon with the content of my email to the ESA and with their response. Hopefully I will have time over the weekend to put together an inspirational video to host here too.

Thanks for reading :)
