We, Toni, Mela and Mikas, are 4th year AB Communication students from De La Salle University - Dasmariñas who recently completed our undergraduate thesis titled, Sa Tahanan: A Case Study on the Communication Strategies Used to Maintain Relationships Between Selected Filipino Families and their Relatives Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
We have submitted our research to the International Conference on Communication, Mass Media & Society 2018 (COMASS 2018) which will be conducted in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on July 20-21,2018. COMASS 2018 is a creative platform with a high level attendance, industry leading and cutting edge content, unrivalled networking opportunities and a presenter friendly atmosphere. This research conference aims to attract more high profile Communication Specialists, Academics, Journalists, Media experts and PhD students from around the world than any other event in the region.
Fortunately, we were accepted. We see this as a huge opportunity to raise an awareness regarding the situation of Filipino families who has relatives who are diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. We pursued this research because we have found out that there are minimal resources as to how the Filipino families can take care of their relatives, as well as how they can retain their familial relationship. We hope to help these families and people with AD through producing a material that could help them achieve better care giving.
We have come to ask for a financial assistance in order for us to cover the necessary expenses such as the registration fee (most importantly), transportation to and fro the Philippines and Yogyakarta, accommodations, etc.
