Campaign Story
Introduction to the scientific circuit of the plans of Iasi, Bucharest, Botosani and Focsani, and the lists of Moldovan and Wallachian boyars kept in the Historical and Military Archives of Moscow
In
the Historical Military Archive, is kept one of the most important fund, no.
438 (Moldova and Walachia), for Romanian History, which totals 995 archive
units for the years 1769-1916, most of them not being published. Among these
documents are 7 plans of the city of Iasi (No. 520, manuscript in colors, year
1789, No. 521, city plan and fortress profile, 40x51 cm, second half of XVIIIth
century, No. 522, manuscript in colors, 51x35,5 cm, end of XVIII century, No.
523, manuscript in colors, 47x60 cm, year 1828, No. 524, manuscript in colors,
45x32 cm, year 1828, No. 525, manuscript, 48x68 cm, XIX century, No. 526, the
plan of Iaşi city and its surroundings, a manuscript in colors, 52x73 cm, 30th
of the 19th century, no 527, illustration, 1900) , 2 plans of the town of
Focsani (no 514, manuscript in color, 42x55cm, beginning of the XIXth century,
no 515, manuscript in colors, 42x59 cm, year 1828), 6 plans of Bucharest (436,
the plan of the capital of Wallachia, manuscript, 76x112 cm, end of the 18th
century, 437, 44x30 cm, beginning of the nineteenth century, no 438, manuscript
in color, XIX century, no 439, manuscript in color, 72x105 cm, XIX century; no.
440, manuscript in color, 59x35 cm, year 1828; no. 444, plan of the city and
its surroundings, manuscript, 67x71 cm, year 1850) and plan of the city of
Botosani (No. 424, manuscript in color, 23x54 cm, year 1829). Our project aims
to introduce them to the scientific circuit.
In
the same archive, together with topographic, statistical documents, etc. are kept
several lists of Moldovan and Wallachian boyars from the beginning of the 19th
century, the information being signaled in them is extremely important for
Romanian prosopography. For example, under no. 79 we have the "List of
Moldovan boyars, information about their dignities and possibilities", containing
detailed data about the country's great boyars, their origin, influence and
wealth. In contrast, for the Muntenian boyars we have the list no. 138,
indicating for each character the function he occupied at the time of drafting
the document. In addition to the ones already mentioned, we want to introduce
in the scientific circuit the list of boyars written in French (no. 120).
