Rescuing River

River is a yellow Labrador Retriever, His owner has ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and is in a care facility. He will not be returning home. I am told that he is more worried about his dog than about himself. River has been kenneled for over two weeks. An email went out last week asking for help. Though the owner's friends are very sympathetic and are coordinating this rescue, no one local, no one else at all, can take River. Tomorrow morning I will kennel my own two dogs for four days, possibly five, and begin the twelve hour drive each way to rescue River and bring him to his new furever home with us. I hope to have a visit with his owner, and I do expect to get a bit lost on the way. At the end of it all River will have a good and loving home with new playmates.
