Elijah Jackson’s legal fundraiser

I am writing this letter on behalf of my son, Elijah. My son is 25 years old and is facing 13 to 20 years in prison for rape of his girlfriend. Elijah is my only son and has his entire life ahead of him. He is being charged with the rape of his girlfriend, Kelsey. Elijah and Kelsey have been together as a couple for over ten years. They have liked each other since they were 11 years old. They now have a little girl, Savannah my granddaughter. Savannah is 3 years old.

Kelsey is white, historically white women have accused black men of rape when indeed the act was consensual.

Here I am a black mother looking and hoping for justice for my son. My heart bleeds because I know and believe in my heart that my son like many others are innocent. Elijah is guilty of making some bad decisions but rape is not one. He admits they had consensual sex.

He and Kelsey had a fight and was in the process of breaking up. The sad part is Kelsey did not want him to leave her and she cried rape. It took an all-white jury in Minnesota one hour to find Elijah guilty of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct. My family and I are devastated. I am sure Elijah is not the only one but there are many black men locked up in prison for being wrongfully convicted. I must do everything I can to help my son. I am creating this fundraiser to pay for legal fees that will accrue for an appeal and hopefully a new trial. I am reaching out to friends and family to help me raise $45,000.00 for attorney fees. Which $15,000.00 is the cost of an appeal and $30,000.00 for a new trial. Thank you for your attention and support in this matter.
