Requesting for an MBA Funding

My name is Yolanda Mampana and I am from South Africa in the city of Johannesburg.

I would like to apply for an MBA program at one of the University's in South Africa. Through this program, I expect to develop myself into an ideal brand of professional with interdisciplinary knowledge, with knowledge in management and in particular ethical leadership.

During my work experience I have been granted with an opportunity to put management theory into practise allowing me to gain deeper understanding about people management and I believe the more you understand the role of a manager and managing people, the more you can add to the role. My ambition is to become the best manager who constantly develops and empowers her employees.

I always dreamt that one day I would like to study MBA but due to financial implications and coming from an underprivileged family raised by a single parent I never imagined myself that one day I would be writing a letter requesting a scholarship for the same programme I have always dreamt of and since South Africa is still a developing country there are currently very limited MBA scholarship opportunities available. The qualification will not only assist in achieving my career aspirations but will also serve as a motivation factor to my family members, community and country as a whole. At this stage there is no one in my family or community that has attained an MBA program and I will really appreciate your contribution in the realisation of my dream.

My desire for management study started after I had completed high school and worked at a Tele Communications company as a Consultant then later I was promoted to be a Team Leader and my job mainly entailed mentoring and coaching of my team members which I was very passionate about as I find pleasure in nurturing other people and see them improve. In addition, I attended management seminars, lectures and debates which broadened my view of management techniques. My passion for management grew profoundly that I decided to pursue management related qualifications and had also achieved my National Diploma in Human Resource Management and Practices with a Cum Laude and had recently completed and graduated for Bachelor of Business Administration honours degree.

These experiences were not only excellent opportunities to develop my leadership abilities, but also provided me with the opportunity to learn from a diverse selection of individuals from different walks of life.

Obtaining the MBA qualification will provide me with the ability to engage with high-level business personnel’s and that has always been my professional objective and will also provide me with the necessary expertise to handle the business day to day challenges.

South Africa is currently facing organisational and cultural challenges and these challenges can be combatted by placing the right people in the right places at the right time with the right skills and attitude in that way South Africa can achieve its objective of having effective and ethical leaders in organisations. My MBA qualification will be an added advantage in bringing about change in my society and to our country as a whole.

In addition, with the skills and experience will I will acquire from my MBA qualification I will instil strong ethical values throughout the organisations namely; honesty, integrity, fairness, respect and trustworthiness and bring about a more democratic and ethical leadership approach. I strongly believe that an organisation which makes decisions based on ethics creates a favourable work environment and thus yields productive employees.

I have unlimited passion for knowledge and consider myself a natural leader. The desire to learn skills that are useful to others energies and motivates me.
