Poor kids are in dire need of urgent heart surgeries and it’s so heart-wrenching for the parents of these kids to watch their kids dying as they are not rich enough to save their lives!

Birth prevalence of congenital heart disease is estimated to be around 9 in 1000 live births and the estimated number of children born with congenital heart disease in India is more than 200,000 per year. Of these, about 40,000 children are likely to have a serious defect, requiring an intervention in the first year of life. Currently advanced cardiac care is available to only a minority of such children. A number of cardiac centers have been developed over the last 10 years and most of them are in the private sector, and hence, not geographically well-distributed. Challenges to pediatric cardiac care include financial constraints, health-seeking behavior of community, and lack of awareness. Abhilasha Foundation acts like a bridge for these kids to get to the hospital for most needed heart surgeries.

The solution to the underprivileged children's heart defects are simple surgical corrections with very high success rates, but the financial burden is too much for rural Indian families to bear the cost of the surgeries.

Our Foundation is putting efforts to provide paediatric care to the underprivileged kids born with congenital heart disease. The Foundation has supported 120 successful heart surgeries which gave a new lease of life to these underprivileged children.
