It is heart breaking seeing how Kenyans working in gulf countries have been left to fend for themselves in foreign countries by their own government. I am a Kenyan living in Nairobi and I lost my job in March. The industry I work in (Hospitality and Tourism) has been among the hardest hit by the pandemic. I, like many others in my position, have seen the hardest times in the past three months. I can't even fathom what it must be like for those stuck in a foreign country possibly under worse conditions than I am. Majority of these Kenyans work in Hospitality and Tourism and most have lost their jobs.
These fund aims to raise money to help cushion the economic hardships faced by Kenyans stuck in the Gulf countries unable to be repatriated back home. My brothers and sisters are going to bed hungry as we helplessly watch. I humbly appeal anyone reading this to help me get send some relief to my people. I am currently working on mobilizing support and create connections on the ground and could use any assistance with this.
We can work with big retail chains like Carrefour and buy food packs where Kenyans can pick them from. I chose Carrefour as a example as I know many Kenyans work for this retailer in the middle east and they can be key in identifying and distributing to those in need. The remaining funds will be used in helping those who can't afford an air ticket acquire one once the issue of repatriation flights is solved. Help me help them not just with cash, but also by sharing this fund. Speak out, shout, mobilize until someone sees this. Any further suggestions will also be appreciated the same way. Let's bring them Home!!
