I am Ronald from the small island in the province of Bohol, Philippines. We are eight in the family, and I am the youngest. My two brothers and five sisters have their own families now working on the farm. I am doing a fundraising for our house converting to a tutorial home for kids in honor of my love for Mom.

Our dad left us when I was 12 years old due to a heart attack; that was in 1996. My mom and I decided to live in my sister’s house for two years; but because of financial problems, I decided to leave Bohol after high school and traveled to Manila to work as a janitor for 2 years. I realized that being a janitor was not enough to help my single mom.

I decided to study in Cebu, which is closer to Bohol. I worked in different fast food chains in the city at night and studied during the day. It was in 2004 when my mom had a stroke and was diagnosed with diabetes. I decided to enroll in fewer subjects to have more time to work to support my mom’s monthly medicine expenses and my tuition fee.

I knew my mom was struggling with her eyes (little blindness) when I was in college, but my goal was to earn a degree to help her. In 2008, I graduated, started working, and saved money for my mom’s eye operation for two years. The operation was successful, and she was happy. That’s how I am crazy in love with my mom.

In 2010, after her operation, I started saving again for our small house. We built a house as I promised. Mom lived the house without electricity while I was in the city working. It was in October 2013 and November on the same year when a huge earthquake and hurricane Haiyan hit the entire province. The house that we loved and cared for became not proportioned and had series of cracks. My mom was stressed out as to what happened and suffered another stroke in 2014; she was in the ICU for three weeks. Due to the diabetes complications, her maintenance rose to a huge amount per month.

Our dream home was not a goal anymore because we wanted her to stay alive. I had no time to save; I just wanted to see her smiling. This year, on January 31, she passed away at the age of 76, bringing our dream house in her heart as she uttered her last breath.

The house now has been vacated and the plan to convert it into a tutorial home is the best option for kids in the community.

A donation of any amount would help, or even just a bit of sharing with others would be invaluable.

Thank you so much for your generosity to the kids and more blessings to come in your family and children as well.

Update posted by Ronald Carnice at 03:35 am

I am from a small island in the Philippines. My Dad left me when I was in my second year high school. My Mom who just died on January 31, 2018, wants to live in our own simple house. It is our dream together. I promised her to do good. . . . .
