Hi everyone,

We are Caleb and Rachael from Smart Click Services PL and Yong Chuang from PSCF.

Another case has come to our attention of a house that caught fire and 5 family individuals were taken to the hospital. The family is going through pain and shock of what happened due to neglected unforseen circumstances.

Below are the full details:

We are appealing to the public for donations and support to redo the family's house. As of now the family is given temporary accommodation. The wife, Isabelle is unemployed currently, and her spouse is working as a Grab food driver.

On the day of the incident, 1st October 2022, Isabelle woke up at approximately 10am and opened the door to realize a lot of smoke outside her master room, she at that point proceeded to tell her spouse about it and promptly called 995 for assistance. She informed them that she suspects there's fire in the living room.

They were then taken to the hospital. Her eldest child and daughter was in the hospital, they told her that her daughter heard an explosion in the morning, while her elder son attempted to put out the fire by using water. However, the fire was widespread, thus he was incapable to handle it. They at that point yelled and shouted to wake up their parents to alert them that the house was on fire. Isabelle suspected maybe it was her husband’s 2 ebike batteries and 3 power banks that initiated such a high voltage till an explosion took place in the living room. The kitchen, the living room’s window, cupboard opposite the toilet, bedroom door and the toilet opposite her children’s room were also affected.

They all ended up being sent to SGH. Hospital did their checks on them to make sure they didn’t inhale a dangerous amount of smoke. Her eldest son just got discharged 6 days ago, whereas her daughter who suffered 2nd-3rd degree burns for her feet is still recuperating in the hospital and has been admitted for nearly 19 days already. We hope her daughter will have a speedy recovery and learn to get up on her feet as she is still young.

As of now, the MP from Jade Dew Spring has helped them out with $3000 worth of cash, $2k for their home renovations, $500 ntuc vouchers and some food rations. City Harvest church has also helped them with $2000, and another church with $200. Her relatives have also pitched in to help out with some furniture for their temporary housing.

We are hereby asking for your kind donations to assist this family to renovate their home again. Every cent counts and we truly look forward to all the assistance we can get.

Thank you.
