Renovation of Mãe Celina de Xangô house of worship

Update on April 18th: Dear friends, praise to all donors in Brazil and Europe. Thanks to you, we were able to rebuild the main stairs and secure the roof above the sacred house of the orishas (See the results in the new video and pics, at the end of the gallery. One of them shows mãe Celina sister, Tissa, and her family visiting the recently renovated stairs). But we still need to build a roof over the main house, and we are 500 euros short. So far, covid19 has not been a safety issue. There are just two men working there, they live nearby, don’t take public transportation, the house is fairly isolated and there’s been just one documented case on the whole neighborhood. But we are worried there might be a lockdown in the future, hope we can raise all the money and finish the roof way before that, so mãe Celina de Xangô's house of worship is safe before the next rain season.

Mãe Celina de Xangô's House of Worship (terreiro), where her Orishas are rooted, has been severely damaged by the summer rains in Rio de Janeiro. The main stairs that give access to the simple house on a cliff were destroyed, and parts of the ceiling are threatening to fall. Not only people can get hurt at any moment, important religious artifacts can get seriously damaged.

We already raised funds among her followers in Rio and started the work, but we weren't able to raise everything necessary to make the house safe again and need some help from our friends in Europe. In the current political climate in Brazil, violence against followers of African based religions has been rampant. It is impossible to get any government help and very important to make the house safe again.

PLEASE, let's help Mãe Celina de Xangô rebuild her House of Worship. Let's give a hand to whom we love, who took care of our souls in Europe. Every Euro is welcome!

In the pictures, you can see the damage done to the stairs and the ceiling. March 10th was the first day of work on rebuilding the stairs, in the video, shot in March 16th, you can see the work almost done. But we still need 4000 reais (around 900 euros) to rebuild the ceiling.
