Rene’s Battle Against Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Last January 09, 2019, as our father (Rene S. Cape) was having a usual day at work as a Grab driver, he experienced severe pounding headache, dizziness and vomiting . He managed to go to the hospital by himself. Upon examination, it was found that he already is suffering from Subarachnoid Hemorrhage. We immediately went to the hospital right then.

What is Subarachnoid Hemorrhage?
Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain. SAH can be caused by a ruptured aneurysm, AVM, or head injury. One-third of patients will survive with good recovery; one-third will survive with a disability; and one-third will die. He is currently suffering from ruptured aneurysms and blood clots in the subarachnoid space causing him to have severe, pounding headaches. The only treatment recommended by the neurosurgeon is to undergo surgery to stop the bleeding. It includes surgical clipping or endovascular coiling. They asked us to prepare around 500,000-1,000,000 Philippine Pesos (10,000-20,000 USD) just for the surgery itself (not including post-operation preparation and expenses).

As of January 12, 2019, the risk of re-rupture is at 4% and is increasing to 1.5% day by day. He is currently at the ICU of Adventist Medical Center- Bacolod. His vital signs are fluctuating and he is still suffering from severe headache. We were told that re-rupture can happen anytime and there is no guarantee of preventing complications. As we do not have sufficient funds, surgery is postponed and only medical interventions are being made (stabilization of blood pressure and pain and anti-vasospasm medications). We were advised that surgery should be done as soon as possible to avoid severe complications but due to financial constraints, surgery can't be done as advised.

We are humbly asking for help from our family, relatives and friends to support us financially so we could collect the needed amount for our father's surgical operation.
