On 9 February 2015 around 3:30 PM, while walking along Session Road here in Baguio City, carrying my 2 year old baby across Prime Hotel, I badly judged the last step that is in different step length and stride length. There was no steel grillage for walkways or any safety warning. I lost my balance and dropped my baby. I couldn’t stand up due to my badly hurt ankle. A police officer stationed in the area then called for an emergency and a few minutes later, an ambulance picked me up and our baby and hurried us to Baguio General and Medical Center- ER. Fortunately, they didn’t find any unnatural behavior from my baby but through the X-ray result, I was told by the resident Ortho Doctor Dacanay that I got a serious Trimalleolar Fracture and needed a surgery. However, I had to be scheduled for the surgery because of my badly swollen ankle. It took me 18 days to go with a cast and I was not able to work and help my husband with our small homebased business, being a mother of a young family of 4 children, it was a very difficult situation for us. I got a surgery on 27th February 2015 and was confined at Baguio General Hospital (BGH) for 5 days. I was released on 3rd March 2015.
We are grateful for our family members, friends, and church, who helped our family in these trying times, including the healthcare we received from the government for the success of the operation. However, all the help we received were not sufficient for the entire rehabilitation process. Recently, I have been suffering from persistent pain and discomfort. I am scheduled for another surgery on March 3, 2016 for the removal of the orthopedic implants I had last year. As advised by the doctor, I am going to be better off after having the plate, screws and pins removed. Your help would mean so much to our family. Our family would be forever grateful for any help you could give us. Thanking you with all my heart in anticipation.
