Field Marshal Haig's Own Pipes & Drums is a very motivated Remembrance pipeband situated in the former Great War battlefields of Flanders. Our aim is to commemorate and pay tribute all those who were and are involved in conflicts, then and now, whatever their nationality was. Although we are playing in the uniforms of the Scottish soldiers who fought in the boody fields of Flanders one hundred years ago and are using period rope drums, it is important to stress that this is only to raise awareness. We emphasise that we are no reenactment but a Remembrance band. Our band became an immediate success from the start, in the first year we played under the Menin Gate and at many ceremonies for as well former British Empire, US, French and German soldiers. About one year ago we began with five pipers and money borrowed money from the founding members, since then we've grown to about 25 members and students. This rapid growth forces us to invest heavily, money which we don't have (as we are still indebted to people who are willing to wait for their money but cannot spend more). The funds raised with this gogetfunding campaign will be used to provide our pipers with pipebanners representing nations, regions and formations serving in the Great War in Flanders.
Every year at Armistice day, people all over the world promise to "Remember them". Please help us to proof that these are no idle words. 4000 euro would help us to put the band firmly on the street and will assure that, in these Centenary years, the efforts of all those wo gave it all are not forgotten.
