Campaign Story
Super Typhoon Rai (known as “Odette” in the Philippines) is the 15th storm to hit the country this year and is the strongest storm in 2021. The trail of the Typhoon Odette crossed the Philippine archipelago from Caraga to Eastern and Central Visayas and Palawan. It made nine landfalls in Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Palawan.
Typhoon Odette brought destruction and hardship to some of the most vulnerable communities already greatly suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The full impact of the disaster is not yet known due to difficulties accessing locations, communication transmission outages and the initial focus on search and rescue.
Many of our Kababayans, Families and Friends lost their homes, businesses, way of living and we immediate needs support and assistance like emergency shelter, food, water, sanitation and hygiene, evacuation support, family reconnection and health care. In addition to immediate response, our place also needs long-term recovery support including the rebuilding of homes and community infrastructure, restoration of electricity and water and sanitation systems, support for damaged businesses and agriculture.
Mahayahay is a barangay in the municipality of Bontoc, in the province of Southern Leyte. Mahayahay is 1 out of 40 barangays of Bontoc which is terrible affected by Typhoon Odette.
We are knocking to your kind hearts, to extend your help and support to our dear Kababayans especially in our place Mahayahay, Bontoc, Southern Leyte, Philippines, who are badly affected by the Typhoon. Any amount would be a big help to let them start once again their lives and make them feel the spirit of the incoming Christmas despite the trauma they are experiencing caused by the typhoon.
